To fill your new hot tub, begin by placing your water hose in the center footwell of the tub and fill it this way.
Keep a close eye on the tub as you fill it, you don't want to put to much water in it. Your water level should be just above the outer ring of the highest jet in your tub. Keep in mind; if your tub is equipped with the neck jets, these are to remain above the water level. They are angled downward and will not create a splashing problem. If your water level drops below the large jets, you run the risk of the jets pumping the water clear of the tub, which in turn will ruin your pumps.
Once you have your tub full of water, turn the power on to the tub. This is to be done at the main breaker box or at your GFCI box. Pump number one will come on after a moment on low speed and start heating your tub. What you need to do is press the pump number one button on the topside control panel and turn your pump onto high speed. You are now watching for a constant flow from all the jets that pump number one runs. This should be the front half of the tub.
If after 30-45 seconds, nothing is happening or there is a surging action from the jets, you must bleed the air from your pumps. To do this, turn off the power at your breaker box, and open your bleeder valve. This is usually located close to the filter box. It is a small thumb screw that is connected to both pumps. Once the air is bled from the pump, close your bleeder valve, turn your power back on, and turn pump number one back onto high speed. You are looking for a constant flow once again. If nothing is still happening, then repeat the above process.
The same goes for any additional pumps in your tub. If you turn them on to high speed and nothing happens, turn the power off and bleed the air from the system. Occasionally, it will take several tries to get all of the air out of the pumps.
Once your tub is running, it should take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours to fully heat. The factory preset is 100 degrees. You may adjust it at any time. Just keep in mind that if you turn the power off to the tub for any reason, the tub will revert back to its 100 degree preset.
You should check your filter once to twice a week, depending on use, or after a large group has used the tub. Filters should be removed from the tub once a month and rinsed with fresh water to remove excess dirt build up. You do not need to shut the power off to accomplish your filter maintenance. You should also rinse the filters once the tub has reached the operating temperature you set it for. There will be some debris in the plumbing from the final manufacturing of the tub, and this will be caught in the filters.
The hard cover should be left on the tub when the tub is not in use, as well as your insulating cover. This will ensure your tub is using its power efficiently to maintain its operating temperature. It is also very important to use your blue insulating cover when the hard cover is on the tub. Not only will this help keep the tub warm, but also it will reduce the amount of moisture that can build up inside the hard cover.
Follow your instructions included with your start-up chemical kit for maintaining a proper balance in your tub. Remember that chemical use is different for each tub, depending on frequency of use and the quality of the water being put in the tub.
